He is depicted facing slightly to the left, wearing traditional Qing-dynasty robes, with a distinguished expression befitting his literary stature. The inscription '曹雪芹诞辰300周年' (300th Anniversary of the Birth of Cao Xueqin) arcs across the upper field in Chinese characters. The denomination '100元' is inscribed in the lower right field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Cao Xueqin, author of Dream of the Red Chamber, died around 1763 in poverty — the novel left unfinished at chapter 80, with the remaining forty chapters completed posthumously by Gao E under disputed circumstances. His birth year is itself unresolved; most scholars place it between 1715 and 1724, making the "300th anniversary" a calculated approximation rather than a fixed historical date. The Chinese government settled on 2015 for commemorative purposes.
