Three large circular medallions dominate the centre: the left bears the numeral denomination "100 YEN" within a lathe-work roundel, the centre displays a floral rosette motif, and the right carries the Chinese character 圓 within a matching roundel. Above the medallions, the issuer's name and promise clause appear in English letterpress, and below runs the full denomination statement in English.
