| 背面描述 | A frontal view of the 0-Series Shinkansen bullet train is depicted in bold relief at the centre of the field, its distinctive rounded nose and characteristic headlight and cab windows rendered in careful detail. Surrounding the central motif, a circular legend in Kanji reads 新幹線鉄道開業50年 (50th Anniversary of the Opening of the Shinkansen Railway), with bullet separators, arranged along the upper rim. Along the lower rim, the denomination 100 YEN in Latin characters appears to the left, separated by a dot, with the Japanese era date 平成28年 (Year 28 of Heisei, corresponding to 2016) in Kanji to the right. |

Part of Japan Mint's 47 Prefectures Coin Program, which ran from 2008 to 2016 and issued two distinct 100-yen pieces for each of Japan's prefectures — a circulation commemorative series unusual for its sheer administrative scale. Akita Prefecture was among the final issues, appearing in the program's closing year.
The series was distributed through Japan Post as well as standard bank channels, limiting heavy circulation exposure for most pieces.
