100 Won Liberation Anniversary

Issued to mark the 30th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule in August 1945, this commemorative was released during a period when Park Chung-hee's government actively shaped national memory around the liberation narrative. The anniversary fell just months after the fall of Saigon, and the geopolitical anxiety on the peninsula at the time lent the commemorative an urgency beyond ceremony.

KM#21 is not a scarce piece by mintage standards, but circulated examples are harder to find than the numbers suggest — most were set aside by the public rather than spent.
