North Korea issues commemorative currency on a reliable political calendar, and Kim Il Sung's 95th birthday in 2007 generated a fresh print run of the 100 Won denomination. These collector-targeted issues circulate in name only — they are sold in presentation folders to tourists and foreign buyers at Pyongyang's official shops rather than passed through any domestic transaction.
