| Obverse description | Central vignette is a portrait of King Sejong the Great (1397–1450), the fourth monarch of the Joseon Dynasty who reigned from 1418 to 1450 and is celebrated as the creator of the Korean Hangeul script. The portrait is rendered in intaglio and set within a guilloche underprint. Issuer name and denomination inscriptions appear in Korean characters flanking the central design. |
