| Reverse description | Central device consists of a prominent all-seeing eye set within a radiant glory of long, pointed sun rays emanating outward across the field, a motif emblematic of divine providence and Enlightenment symbolism. Thirteen small six-petaled stars are distributed around the rays, referencing the original thirteen states of the Union. The circular legend NOVA • CONSTELLATIO • runs along the periphery, with NOVA at the base and CONSTELLATIO across the upper arc, separated by a raised beaded border. The overall design is bold and deeply engraved, consistent with the pattern coinage produced under the supervision of Gouverneur Morris's decimal monetary system proposal. |
