100 Tögrög Year of the Horse

Mongolia's lunar series coins, issued through the early 2000s, were produced primarily for the international collector market rather than domestic circulation — the tögrög's purchasing power made a 100-unit face value essentially nominal. The Bank of Mongolia contracted several foreign mints during this period, and attribution of specific striking facilities for individual issues remains inconsistently documented.

Silver-plated copper-nickel was the workhorse composition of this collector series, chosen to keep costs low while maintaining visual appeal for export sales.
