背面描述 Highly detailed depiction of Al-Khazneh (The Treasury), the iconic rock-cut façade of the ancient Nabataean city of Petra in Jordan, rendered in high relief set within the natural sandstone canyon walls that frame the monument. The elaborate Hellenistic-style façade with its columns, pediments, urns, and sculpted figures is rendered with fine engraving detail. A globe logo appears in the upper left field, with the Arabic inscription 'البتراء' (Al-Petra) to the right, the Latin legend 'PETRA' arching along the upper border, and the date '2008' inscribed in the lower exergue.

附加信息

Part of Mongolia's long-running series of numismatic issues marketed toward the tourist and collector trade, this piece commemorates Petra, the Nabataean rock-cut city in southern Jordan. Mongolia became a prolific issuer of themed novelty coinage in the 2000s, licensing foreign subjects with little geographic or historical connection to the country — a revenue strategy adopted by several small-economy central banks during that decade.

Silver-plated copper rather than solid silver; buyers in the secondary market frequently mistake these for sterling issues.
