| Additional information |
Part of Kazakhstan's ongoing "Sacred Geography of Kazakhstan" series, this issue commemorates the dýadaq — a traditional Kazakh form of communal labor where neighbors gather without payment to help one another with large tasks like construction or harvest. The practice predates the Soviet period but survived collectivization largely because it required no formal organization the state could easily suppress or co-opt.
