Ecuador's Banco Central periodically used frozen or recycled plate dates on successive print runs, a practice that creates genuine confusion about when a given note actually entered circulation. The 1945 date carries no monetary significance for Ecuador; it is a printing artifact, not a commemorative choice.
By the late 1980s, the sucre was under sustained inflationary pressure, and the 100-sucre denomination was losing purchasing power rapidly enough that these notes moved through commerce quickly and wore hard.
