Opmerkingen

Tajikistan introduced the somoni in October 2000, replacing the Tajik ruble at a rate of 1,000 to one — a currency reform that came at the tail end of a brutal civil war that had gutted the country's economy through most of the 1990s. The 25th anniversary issue is a commemorative in the strict sense: a circulating denomination dressed for an occasion, printed by G+D Leipzig, which has handled Tajik banknote production for much of the somoni's existence.

Watermark-only security is modest for a 2025 issue, even a commemorative one.
