The Banco Central de Reserva del Perú was itself a new institution when this series entered circulation — established in 1931 as part of the Kemmerer Mission reforms, which swept through several South American central banks in the late 1920s and early 1930s, replacing older commercial hybrid institutions with orthodox reserve banks on the U.S. Federal Reserve model. This note belongs to the BCR's first years of independent issue.
ABNC produced the intaglio work in New York under contract, a relationship Perú maintained with the company across multiple series. The watermark is the sole mechanical security feature — no serial number fluorescence, no security thread, consistent with production norms for the period.
