背面描述 A highly detailed depiction of a cobra fills the central field, its hooded head and coiled body rendered in sharp relief with fine scale texturing; the snake's head faces left with forked tongue extended. The design is set within a raised inner circle, with the legend BANK OF UGANDA arcing along the upper periphery outside the circle, and the date 2004 and the inscription SNAKE appearing along the lower periphery. Small circular ornaments flank the design at the left and right of the inner circle.

附加信息

Uganda's shilling had collapsed so severely by the late 1980s that the government redenominated in 1987, cutting six zeros and issuing a new shilling. The 100-shilling coin that eventually emerged in this nickel-plated steel format replaced earlier brass and cupro-nickel versions as the Bank of Uganda sought cheaper production costs during a period of continued monetary instability.

The snake depicted on this issue references Uganda's rich herpetofauna — a deliberate shift toward national wildlife imagery that distinguished Ugandan coinage from its earlier post-independence designs.
