Somalia's wildlife bullion series has no central bank backing in any conventional sense — the Federal Government of Somalia has long contracted foreign mints and licensing agencies to produce these coins, with the Leopard series manufactured in Germany under arrangement with the Bavarian State Mint or affiliated private facilities. The coins circulate almost entirely within the collector and bullion market; no meaningful quantity has ever seen Mogadishu.
The series launched in 2019, with annual design refreshes driving secondary market premiums on earlier dates.
