Somalia's elephant bullion series occupies an unusual niche: issued under Somali authority but produced entirely for the European collector and bullion market, with no meaningful connection to domestic circulation. The series is closely associated with the Bavarian State Mint in Munich, which has struck the majority of issues. Each annual release carries a new reverse design, making the series a deliberate annual collectible rather than a standard bullion program.
KM#255 is the 2015 installment. The changing designs year to year have driven secondary-market premiums well above melt on earlier dates.
