Obverse description The Somali national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a heraldic shield adorned with horizontal lines and a five-pointed star at its centre, supported on either side by two standing leopards facing inward. Below the shield, crossed spears and a palm frond are interlaced with a scroll, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend SOMALI REPUBLIC arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by a beaded border, while the denomination 100 SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower arc. The date is split on either side of the coat of arms, with 20 to the left and 25 to the right.

Additional information

Somalia's Elephant series has run continuously since 1999, making it one of the longer-lived bullion programs on the continent. Each annual release carries a new reverse design, which has built a dedicated date-run collector base over the decades — a deliberate strategy borrowed from the South African Natura and Australian Lunar programs.

Struck to .9999 fineness rather than the more common .999, a specification the series adopted to compete directly with the Canadian Maple Leaf in the fine silver market.
