Seibu-en Yuenchi in Tokorozawa issued its own internal currency — the Seibuen — as part of the park's broader "Furusato Village" attraction, a nostalgic recreation of a mid-Showa rural Japan aesthetic. The notes circulated exclusively within designated vendor areas inside the park and had no value outside the gates. This kind of closed-loop scrip was not uncommon in Japanese theme parks, but Seibu-en's version attracted attention from notaphilists precisely because it was printed with enough care to read as a genuine small-denomination note rather than a novelty coupon.
The park itself closed permanently in August 2023, which gives notes from the final operating season a hard terminus date.
