Obverse description The titanium centre features a highly stylised, modernist relief of a motor engine in dynamic perspective, conveying mechanical power and industrial motion through interlocking mechanical components, pipes, and pistons rendered in bold, angular lines. The design suggests speed and engineering precision characteristic of contemporary Austrian commemorative coinage. The surrounding silver ring carries the circular legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH at the top and 100 SCHILLING at the bottom, separated by raised dot stops, all in upright Latin capitals.

Additional information

The 100 Schilling Transportation coin was issued in the final months before Austria's conversion to the euro, making the entire "Österreich 2000" bimetallic series among the last significant collector issues denominated in schillings. Münze Österreich had been experimenting with titanium bimetallics through the late 1990s, and the pairing of titanium with a silver ring produces a center that shifts color depending on oxidation state — a property that makes long-term storage conditions unusually relevant for this type.
