Obverse description Intaglio portrait bust of Johann Strauss the Younger faces right at centre-right, accompanied by a violin, bow, musical score, and laurel branch rendered in fine line engraving below the portrait. The Austrian coat of arms is positioned to the left, with denomination numerals and the bank name inscribed across the note. Designer and engraver credits appear in the lower margin.

Reverse description The central field is occupied by a finely engraved intaglio vignette of Schloss Schönbrunn, the imperial Baroque palace in Hietzing, Vienna, rendered in precise architectural detail. Four large multicoloured guilloche rosettes in red, green, and blue anchor each corner, with the denomination numeral "100" set within ornate lathe-work panels at the corners. Serial numbers appear both above and below the palace vignette.
