| 裏面の説明 | A fine portrait bust of Sri Ramana Maharshi faces slightly to the left in the central field, rendered with expressive detail conveying the sage's serene and contemplative visage. Above the portrait, an outline of the sacred Arunachala hill is depicted, with the Devanagari legend 'श्री रमणाश्रमम् शताब्दी वर्ष' arcing along the upper periphery. The Latin legend 'SRI RAMANASRAMAM CENTENARY' curves along the lower arc. The dates '1922' and '2022' flank the portrait in the mid-field, commemorating the centenary of the ashram's founding. |

Sri Ramanasramam, the ashram established around Ramana Maharshi at the foot of Arunachala hill in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, was formally constituted as an institution in 1922 following pressure from Maharshi's devotees to organize the growing community around him. Maharshi himself reportedly showed little interest in institutional arrangements. The centenary fell in 2022, prompting this commemorative issue under India's ongoing program of .999 silver collector coins tied to cultural and religious anniversaries.
