Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, India's national emblem, is depicted centrally in high relief, showing three lions atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra. Beneath the capital, the national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') appears in Devanagari script. The issuer's name 'भारत' in Devanagari and 'INDIA' in Latin script are positioned along the left and right periphery respectively. The large denomination numeral '100' appears in the lower field, flanked by 'रुपये' in Devanagari to the left and 'RUPEES' in Latin script to the right.
