100 Rupees Satyamohan Joshi

Issued to honor Satyamohan Joshi, the Nepali scholar and cultural historian who at the time of issue was over 100 years old — a rare instance of a living honoree on Nepali coinage. Joshi spent decades documenting Newari language, classical dance, and religious manuscript traditions that might otherwise have gone unrecorded during Nepal's turbulent 20th century transitions from Rana oligarchy through Panchayat rule to federal republic.
