| 表面の説明 | The national emblem of India, the Ashoka Pillar capital featuring four lions atop an abacus with the Dharma Chakra, is depicted in the central field. Beneath the emblem appears the national motto in Devanagari script: 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate). The denomination '100' is prominently displayed in the lower field, flanked by the bilingual legends 'भारत' and '100 रुपये' in Devanagari script to the left, and 'INDIA' and 'RUPEES' in Latin script to the right, arranged vertically along the coin's rim. |

Perarignar ("Great Scholar") was the honorific attached to C. N. Annadurai after his death in 1969 — the Tamil Nadu chief minister whose funeral drew what was then one of the largest recorded crowds in human history, estimated at over fifteen million people. This 2009 issue marked the centenary of his birth. The .500 fineness is characteristic of Indian commemorative silver from this period, when the Reserve Bank consistently chose debased alloy over fine silver for collector releases.
