Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Mauritius at centre, featuring a quartered shield bearing an anchor, a key, a palm tree, and a sailing ship, supported by a dodo to the left and a stag to the right, with two sugarcane stalks rising behind the shield. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto STELLA CLAVISQUE MARIS INDICI in raised lettering.
