Thomas De La Rue has printed Seychelles currency for decades, and this 2013 issue continues that unbroken relationship — unusual for a small island nation that might otherwise have diversified its printing contracts as sovereignty assertions elsewhere prompted switches to regional or national printers. The Central Bank of Seychelles was established only in 1983, relatively late, and the note series it has issued since then reflects a consistent institutional conservatism: cotton substrate, De La Rue production, modest security specifications.
The P#47 designation places this within a short-run series. Seychelles' small population — under 100,000 — means print runs are limited, and even circulated examples from this issue don't surface frequently outside the Indian Ocean region.
