Obverse description Central vignette of Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) rises above a cameo portrait of Mayadevi at right, with apsaras rendered in the vault area above. The left side carries an outline map of Nepal alongside the Ashoka pillar as found at Lumbini, birthplace of the Buddha, depicted broken at its crown, with an old coin motif integrated into the design. Guilloche underprint patterns frame the composition throughout.
