Bradbury Wilkinson's contract with Ceylon ran through the early independence decades, and this 1963 issue falls squarely in that period — competent intaglio work from a printer better known for its Commonwealth central bank relationships than for visual innovation. The watermark security was modest by contemporary standards, though Ceylon's relatively low counterfeiting pressure at the time made that a defensible choice rather than a negligence.
P#66 is sometimes conflated with the closely related P#65 series by collectors unfamiliar with the signature varieties that distinguish them. The Central Bank of Ceylon had been operational only since 1950, and the 100-rupee denomination remained tightly controlled in distribution through most of the early 1960s given prevailing import restrictions and foreign exchange regulations under the government of Sirimavo Bandaranaike.
