Obverse description The obverse is framed by an elaborate engraved border of intricate guilloche work, with a vignette of a dhow under sail at left and a vignette of fruit pickers on a coconut palm at right, flanking a central text panel set within a Moorish arch motif. The issuer title 'THE ZANZIBAR GOVERNMENT' runs across the top, with the denomination 100 in each corner, and multilingual inscriptions in English, Arabic, and Gujarati throughout. Two manuscript signatures appear at lower centre, identified as Chief Secretary and Treasurer, with a printed date of 1st August 1916.
