| Aanvullende informatie |
The Maldives declared a republic for the first time in 1953, but that government collapsed within months and the sultanate was restored. The republic commemorated here is actually the second republic, proclaimed in November 1968 after a referendum abolished the sultanate of Ibrahim Nasir — making 1998 the genuine thirty-year mark of the modern constitutional order.
KM# 105 was struck at the Royal Mint on a standard 28.28g sterling blank shared with dozens of contemporary Commonwealth-adjacent commemoratives of the period.
