| Obverse description | The Maldivian coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a coconut palm tree above a crescent and star flanked by two crossed national flags on staffs, all above a ribbon bearing Thaana script legend. The Gregorian year 1984 appears in the upper left field and the Islamic year ١٤٠٤ (1404 AH) in the upper right. The Latin legend MALDIVES is inscribed along the lower border, with the Thaana script equivalent ދިވެހި ރާއްޖޭ positioned to the lower right. The design is rendered in high-relief proof finish against a mirrored field. |

| Reverse description | A large stylized yin and yang symbol dominates the central field, its two interlocking sections filled with a repeating pattern of wheelchair symbols referencing the International Year of Disabled Persons. At the apex of the design, the international disabled persons emblem — a stylized figure within a downward-pointing triangle surmounted by a laurel wreath — is prominently displayed. The circular legend FULL PARTICIPATION & EQUALITY runs along the upper border in Latin characters, flanked by star stops, with the denomination 100 RUFIYAA inscribed along the lower border. Thaana script lettering appears at the lower left of the field. |

| Additional information |
Piedfort issues from the Maldives Monetary Authority are uncommon in any series; this particular strike, commemorating disabled persons, aligns with the International Year of Disabled Persons declared by the UN in 1981, a campaign that prompted a wave of commemorative coinage from smaller issuing authorities throughout the early 1980s. The MMA was established only in 1981, making this among its earliest piedfort outputs.
Piedforts of this type were produced in strictly limited quantities, primarily for collector sets and diplomatic distribution rather than any circulation purpose.
