Beschrijving keerzijde Central design features a stylized globe rendered in meridian grid lines surmounted by the emblem of the International Year of Disabled Persons — a wreathed symbol — the whole presented beneath an umbrella canopy. Below the globe, a group of figures in various poses represents persons with different disabilities, including an individual using a wheelchair and another using crutches, all rendered in relief against a polished field. The peripheral legend 'FULL PARTICIPATION & EQUALITY' arcs along the upper rim in Latin script, flanked by asterisk ornaments. The denomination '100 RUFIYAA' is inscribed along the lower rim, with the Dhivehi script equivalent to the lower left.

Aanvullende informatie

The Maldives Monetary Authority issued several gold commemorative pieces through the early 1980s aimed squarely at the collector market, with distribution handled largely through international numismatic agencies rather than domestic channels. This piece was produced in alignment with the United Nations' International Year of Disabled Persons, which the UN had designated for 1981 — making the 1984 striking a delayed commemorative rather than a contemporaneous one.

Mintages for MMA gold issues of this period were typically very low, and collector demand was modest at issue.
