Obverse description The state coat of arms of Transnistria occupies the central field, depicting a Soviet-style emblem composed of sheaves of wheat flanking a hammer and sickle surmounted by a five-pointed star, with a rising sun at the base and a ribbon bearing the Cyrillic initials 'ПМР' on each side and 'РМН' on the central shield. The circular legend 'ПРИДНЕСТРОВСКИЙ РЕСПУБЛИКАНСКИЙ БАНК' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '100 РУБЛЕЙ' is inscribed in large characters along the lower rim. The date '2009' appears in the lower central field, flanked by the silver fineness mark 'Ag 925'. The mirror-like proof field provides strong contrast against the finely detailed relief of the arms.

Reverse description The central field features a finely modelled relief of an ox standing upon a rocky outcrop, facing left with its head turned toward the viewer, rendered in a naturalistic style with detailed musculature. To the right of the animal, a Chinese character for 'ox' (牛) is prominently displayed in the field. The curved legend 'ГОД ЗЕМЛЯНОГО БЫКА' (Year of the Earth Ox) arcs along the upper periphery in bold Cyrillic lettering. The date '2009' is inscribed at the base of the rocky ground line. The mirror-polished prooflike field enhances the three-dimensional quality of the central motif.

Additional information

Transnistria — the narrow strip of land between the Dniester River and the Ukrainian border — declared independence from Moldova in 1990 but remains unrecognized by any UN member state. The Transnistrian Republican Bank nonetheless operates a full numismatic program, issuing collector coinage denominated in a currency accepted nowhere outside its own borders. This Lunar Series entry for the Year of the Ox reflects a broader post-Soviet collector coin strategy aimed less at domestic circulation than at hard-currency export sales to foreign numismatists.
