Transnistria — officially unrecognized by any UN member state — has nevertheless operated its own central bank and issued commemorative coinage since the early 1990s, a practice that functions more as a revenue stream from foreign collectors than as conventional monetary policy. The Pridnestrovian Republican Bank contracted the production of its silver issues abroad, as the breakaway state has never possessed minting infrastructure of its own.
