Additional information

Brazil's 1924 coinage patterns were struck as the government evaluated a shift in alloy composition for the lower denominations, a process driven partly by post-WWI metal economics and partly by ongoing monetary instability under the Old Republic. Most pattern strikes from this period never advanced beyond the trial phase, making survivorship largely a function of what left the Casa da Moeda in official or semi-official hands.

KM#Pn 250 is among a cluster of 1924 copper-nickel patterns that share the same political moment: the Tenente revolts had shaken institutional confidence, and fiscal reform was being discussed at every level of government.
