Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Queen Isabella II facing left, her hair elaborately coiffed and gathered into a large chignon adorned with a leafy ornament, with a small drop earring visible at the ear. The effigy is rendered in high relief against a smooth field, in the neoclassical portrait style typical of mid-19th-century Spanish coinage. The encircling legend reads ISABEL 2A POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS Y LA CONST, interrupted at the base by the date 1850 flanked by pellets. A toothed border frames the entire design.
