| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse is printed in brown on white paper, with an elaborate letterpress border of guilloche ornaments and a right-side panel bearing the vertical inscription 'Rv.ª 100'. At centre, a crowned Spanish royal coat of arms flanked by two ornate oval cartouches bearing the bank name 'BANCO DE ZARAGOZA' in bold script, with serial number boxes at lower left and right. A central lozenge-shaped denomination underprint carries the repeated word 'Cien' as a security background, with the bold legend 'CIEN' superimposed, above three lines of italic text stating the promise to pay, the date 'Zaragoza, 14 de Mayo de 1857', and four manuscript signature lines below official title labels. Series designation 'Serie A' appears in a decorative cartouche at the foot. |

The Banco de Zaragoza was one of the provincial banks established under Spain's 1856 banking law, which briefly allowed regional institutions to issue their own notes before the Banco de España consolidated that privilege in 1874. This 100 Reales de Vellón note dates from the early years of that window — the reales de vellón denomination itself was already being phased out in favor of the escudo system introduced in 1864, meaning notes like this had a structurally short useful life from the outset.
Surviving examples from Zaragoza's provincial issues are scarce. The bank's circulation was geographically constrained to Aragon, and redemption pressure during the 1874 consolidation eliminated most of the remaining stock.
