The Banco de Guatemala's relationship with British American Bank Note Company stretched across several decades and multiple series, making this 1992 printing part of a long-established production arrangement rather than a one-off contract. BABN — operating as BA International by this point — was among the last major Canadian security printers before the industry consolidated sharply through the 1990s; the company itself was eventually absorbed into the Canadian Bank Note Company.
The 100 Quetzal denomination has historically seen limited day-to-day circulation given its high face value relative to average Guatemalan wages of the period. Notes from this series often surface in above-average condition for that reason.
