Obverse description The obverse is printed in blue and salmon tones, with the bank's royal arms vignette at centre top, flanked by two oval guilloche medallions each bearing the denomination numeral "100" on blue underprint. The central text panel carries the promise-to-pay legend in bold letterpress, with the place and date "Edinburgh, 1st June, 1962" above. A manuscript signature of the General Manager appears at lower right, with the serial number printed in blue at upper left and upper right.

Reverse description The reverse is engraved entirely in blue-green, with a large central medallion containing a seated allegorical female figure — Britannia with helmet and shield — surrounded by the inscription "MEDITATI" and fine engine-turned lacework. Symmetrical guilloche panels with floral rosettes and geometric latticework fill the left and right fields, with the denomination numeral "100" at each side. The printer's imprint appears at the lower centre margin.
