Issued to commemorate the Pharaohs' Golden Parade of April 3, 2021, in which 22 royal mummies — 18 kings and 4 queens — were transported in a televised procession from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the newly opened National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat. The event was staged with extraordinary ceremony, each mummy carried in a nitrogen-filled capsule aboard a specially decorated vehicle. Egypt's government used the parade partly as a soft-power moment, signaling the NMEC's readiness after years of delays.
