Obverse description Central vignette of a sailing ship flanked by large denomination numerals printed vertically on both side panels reading "ONE HUNDRED". The bank title "NORTHERN BANK LIMITED" arches across the top, with the former name "NORTHERN BANKING COMPANY LIMITED" inscribed beneath in a secondary arc. Extensive lists of branch names form dense typeset borders along the upper and lower margins, with the promise-to-pay text and denomination "ONE HUNDRED POUNDS" rendered in bold letterpress across the centre.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by three large circular guilloche rosettes arranged horizontally, each composed of intricate lathe-work patterns in blue. The central rosette contains the interlaced monogram of the Northern Banking Company Limited, while the two flanking rosettes bear the numeral "100" in bold at their centres. A faint mirror-image ghosting of the obverse text is visible through the paper as a security underprint.
