| Beschrijving voorzijde | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered in the fifth definitive portrait by engraver Jody Clark. The sovereign's draped bust is depicted in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The encircling legend carries the monarch's titles and the denomination, with the engraver's initials J.C. incorporated discreetly into the design. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features an engraved scene adapted from Beatrix Potter's original illustrations, depicting Mrs. Rabbit in her cape and bonnet, accompanied by Peter Rabbit and three smaller rabbits standing attentively at her side, with tall plant stems rising behind them. The composition faithfully evokes the delicate line-work style of the classic children's illustrations. An inscribed quotation from the tale appears in the upper field in period-style lettering, occupying the upper right quadrant of the design. The figures are rendered in fine relief against the highly polished proof field, creating a striking contrast characteristic of this issue. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Peter Rabbit bullion and commemorative series has been a reliable revenue vehicle for the Royal Mint since 2016, capitalizing on the expiry of Beatrix Potter's copyright protections and the subsequent commercial free-for-all around her characters. This 2021 proof issue is one of several gold denominations produced that year within the series, none of which circulated or were ever intended to.
Beatrix Potter based Peter Rabbit's setting on Hill Top Farm in the Lake District, which she purchased in 1905 partly using royalties from the first privately printed edition of 1901.
