Reverse description The reverse presents a finely engraved scene inspired by John Tenniel's original illustrations for Lewis Carroll's 'Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There.' Alice stands to the left, her long hair flowing, dressed in her characteristic pinafore and striped stockings, facing Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the rotund twin brothers depicted centre and right with caps and matching attire, set against a woodland backdrop with a bare tree and foliage. The inscription 'THROUGH the LOOKING-GLASS' appears in decorative lettering across the lower field, designed by Ffion Gwillim.
