Opmerkingen

Sudan's late 1980s were marked by acute economic deterioration — inflation running well above 50% annually by the end of the decade, a civil war consuming government finances, and the 1989 coup that brought Omar al-Bashir to power. A 100 Pound note that would have represented a meaningful sum at the start of this series had its purchasing power gutted well before the type was withdrawn.

Thomas De La Rue printed the series in London throughout the issue window. The sole security feature, a watermark, was already insufficient for a denomination this size at a time when Sudanese currency was under serious counterfeiting pressure from multiple directions.
