| 裏面の説明 | The reverse features a commemorative scene depicting General Douglas MacArthur, shown in his characteristic uniform and sunglasses, wading ashore alongside Philippine President Sergio Osmeña and accompanying Allied forces, recalling the historic Leyte Gulf landings of October 20, 1944. The figures are rendered in bold relief in the central field. The upper legend reads LEYTE GULF LANDINGS 50TH ANNIVERSARY, with LEYTE, PHILIPPINES arcing below, and the date OCTOBER 20, 1994 enclosed by two stars appearing along the lower periphery. |

Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the October 1944 Leyte Gulf landings, during which General Douglas MacArthur waded ashore at Red Beach fulfilling his famous "I shall return" pledge made after the fall of Corregidor in 1942. The accompanying naval battle — fought across four separate engagements over three days — remains the largest naval battle in history by number of ships involved.
The .800 fineness is characteristic of BSP commemorative silver issues of this period, a step below sterling but consistent across the commemorative program of the early 1990s.
