备注

The Banque d'Hochelaga was a French-Canadian chartered bank founded in Montreal in 1873, serving largely the working-class and francophone commercial communities that the Bank of Montreal and other Anglo-dominated institutions had little interest in courting. By 1889, it was a solvent regional institution — not large, but stable enough to commission high-denomination notes from a local printer.

The Columbia Bank Note Company operated out of Montreal and handled a significant share of Canadian chartered bank printing before the large American security printers consolidated that work. At 100 piastres — the French-language term used on Quebec-issued notes in place of "dollars" — this is among the highest-denomination notes the bank circulated. Few would have moved through ordinary commercial hands.

The Banque d'Hochelaga survived into the twentieth century, eventually merging into the Banque Canadienne Nationale in 1924.
