Sport-Verein Corbach 1909 issued this 100 Pfennig note as club-specific Notgeld — emergency scrip tied to a sports organization rather than a municipality or savings bank, which was unusual even during the inflationary Notgeld period of the early 1920s when such local issues proliferated across Germany. Korbach was the seat of the former Principality of Waldeck, absorbed into Prussia only in 1921, giving the town a particular sensitivity around local identity at exactly the moment this note was circulating.
Louis Koch of Halberstadt printed a significant volume of Notgeld for small issuers across northern and central Germany. Their output was competent but high-volume.
