A central vignette presents the heraldic arms of Alsfeld — a crowned lion rampant on a quartered shield with elaborate red mantling — flanked on either side by the denomination numerals '100' and the abbreviation 'Pfg' in bold Gothic letterpress. A ribbon scroll at the top carries the commemorative inscription '700 Jahrfeier der Stadt Alsfeld' with the founding and issue years '1222' and '1922' placed to either side of the arms. Below the vignette, the place and date of issue appear in Gothic script, followed by the title 'Der Bürgermeister:' with a manuscript signature. The printer's imprint 'Scharfes Druckereien Wetzlar' appears in the lower right margin. |
