The 100 Pesos bimetallic proof series, launched by Banco de México in 2004, dedicated individual issues to each of Mexico's 31 states plus the Federal District, rotating through regional iconography tied to pre-Columbian and colonial heritage. The Yucatán issue appeared in 2007 as part of that ongoing program. Production was handled at the Casa de Moneda de México, which had refined its bimetallic proof technique across earlier issues in the run — the gold centre is set into the silver ring after separate striking, a process that demanded tighter tolerances than standard bi-metallic coinage.
Mintages across the series were uniformly low, typically around 1,000 pieces per state issue.
