| Reverse description | The right-facing bust of Pope John Paul II dominates the right portion of the field, rendered in finely detailed high relief and depicting the pontiff in papal vestments with a pectoral cross suspended from his neck. To the left, a detailed architectural rendering of the Cathedral of Havana (Catedral de La Habana) is shown in elevation, faithfully reproducing its characteristic Baroque facade with twin bell towers. The curved legend VISITA DE SU SANTIDAD JUAN PABLO II arcs along the upper periphery, followed by the dates 21-25 de Enero de 1998 in a secondary arc.
